Eavestrough cleaning

Clogged gutters cause ice dams, siding damage, and basement leaks. We clear every section, flush every downspout, and leave your system flowing — before the Calgary winter hits.

Why Calgary gutters need regular cleaning

Our freeze-thaw cycle means water trapped in clogged gutters freezes and expands, pulling gutters away from the fascia and creating gaps that cause even more water damage. Spring melt tests every gutter system at once — if your downspouts are blocked by debris from last fall, that water backs up under your shingles and into your eaves. Annual eavestrough cleaning is one of the cheapest home maintenance services that prevents the most expensive problems.

Our process

1

Full gutter clearing

We remove all debris from your eavestroughs by hand and with professional gutter tools. Every section is cleared — not just the downspout openings. We check for standing water (a sign of improper pitch) and clear bird nests, seed pods, and moss.

2

Downspout flushing

After the gutters are clear, we flush every downspout with water to confirm there are no blockages below ground or at the discharge point. We do not leave a property until every downspout is flowing freely.

3

Downspout extension check

Calgary building codes require downspouts to discharge at least 1.5 metres from the foundation. We check your extensions and splash pads — and can install replacements on the spot if needed.

4

Gutter inspection

While cleaning, we inspect for loose fasteners, separated joints, rust spots, and sagging sections. Minor repairs such as tightening brackets and resealing joints can often be handled during the same visit.

When to clean your eavestroughs

Spring (April–May)

After the snow melts and before the May long weekend. Removes winter debris and prepares your gutters for spring melt and summer thunderstorms.

Fall (October–November)

After the leaves have dropped but before the snow flies. The most important cleaning of the year — ensures your gutters can handle winter snowmelt and prevents ice dam formation.

Mid-summer (optional)

For properties with heavy tree cover — cottonwoods, poplars, Manitoba maples — a mid-summer cleaning prevents seed pods from clogging your system.

Common questions

How often should I clean my eavestroughs?
At least once per year. If you have mature trees overhanging your roof, twice per year (spring and fall) is recommended. Calgary homes with no nearby trees may only need annual fall cleaning.
Can clogged gutters cause foundation problems?
Yes. Water overflowing from clogged gutters saturates the soil around your foundation. In Calgary's clay soil, this expansion and contraction cycle can cause foundation settlement and basement water intrusion.
Do you clean gutters on multi-storey homes?
Yes. We carry ladders up to 28 feet and have the equipment to safely access two-storey rooflines. All of our techs carry full WCB and liability insurance.
What do you do with the debris?
All gutter debris is collected in tarps — nothing ends up on your lawn or flower beds. We bag the debris and haul it away for composting or disposal.
